The Best Version of Ourselves?
I am not particularly interested in how people become “the best version of themselves”.
I am interested in why we believe we have to be a particular version in the first place.
How ideas develop about what makes a good life. What success means. How relationships are supposed to work. What is considered sensible, normal or worth striving for.
Because much of what we consider deeply personal decisions does not originate solely within us.
We live in families, social circles and cultures. We take on expectations, roles and stories. Some consciously, many without realising it.
And yet we are not entirely at the mercy of those stories.
We can look at them.
We can ask ourselves: Is this really mine?
That is exactly why I do this work.
Not to tell people how to live.
But to make visible everything that is sitting at the table when we believe we are making a decision entirely on our own.
What do you think?
Which idea of a “good life” have you adopted from others—and which feels truly your own today?
